July 14, 2026 | By Retailers Association of India

A delegation from the Retailers Association of India (RAI) met with members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce at Parliament House on 7 November 2025 to present industry perspectives on the ease of doing retail business in India.

During the meeting, RAI shared comments and suggestions on key regulatory and operational challenges affecting the retail sector. Areas discussed included the implementation of the National Retail Trade Policy, the complexity of multiple retail licence and renewal processes, the need for an entry-level unified licence with extended validity, greater uniformity between central and state regulations, quality control order (QCO)–related concerns, and issues linked to CPCB compliances.

Members of the Committee were receptive to the issues raised and engaged with the industry’s views during the interaction. RAI has also submitted detailed written inputs to the Committee for further consideration as part of the ongoing deliberations.
