ARAI delegation held meeting with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs regarding the proposed Decriminalization of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 under the
chairmanship of Honorary Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh.The RAI delegate strongly stressed the importance of decriminalisation. The Secretary confirmed that there will be a two-month extension of Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Amendment Rules, 2022 i.e., notification for unit sale price.
The effective date for implementation will now be December 1, 2022.The Secretary also confirmed that they will issue clarification on nomination of a director where any authorised officer may be nominated
