Mall space is expected to grow by 10 million square feet in 2022 – almost double of last year, a report by real estate consultancy firm Anarock states.The report highlights that despite the pandemic witnessing a rise in e-commerce, people still want to visit a physical store or a mall for an experience with the family.According to the data, India is set to open 15 new malls across 12 cities this year, of which four will open in Chennai Another interesting bit of data that comes out of the report is the increase in the number of malls in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Consumers want to buy more branded products, setting stage foraccelerated growth of organised retail in India.
